A Boy Named Jack Poem by Thistle Wargul

A Boy Named Jack

Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack,
Who loved playing with his friends and having a good yak.
One day in the woods he met a big bear
Which gave him a bigger scare.
He turned around and ran away,
Shouting “I don’t want to play! ”
He kept on running until he was home,
Discovering his Mum on the phone.

She was talking to his teacher at school;
My Burks, Jack’s Mum thought was cool.
Apparently Jack had been skipping class
After cutting himself on a piece of glass.

Unfortunately for the boy listening in,
Mr Burks never believed him.

When Jack’s Mum put down the phone
He’d decided to run away from home.

Jack grabbed his backpack and skateboard too,
A change of clothes and his lucky horse shoe,
And hopped onto his BMX,
That he usually used out on the “Rek”.

When back in the woods, Jack got lost;
A mistake that sure did cost:
He bumped into the biggest bear ever,
The one he’d want to play with; NEVER!

In the few short minutes of his last,
Jack was sorry it went so fast.
He ended up eaten for the bear’s dinner,
Making its belly a lot less thinner.

And the moral of this tale is true:
Don’t trust “Once upon a times”,
Their “Happily ever afters” never last,
Life passes away much too fast!
