A Box With Your Name Poem by Cory Fox

A Box With Your Name

When Christmas grew near
And the shoppers appeared
Wearing their caroler's best
I was blinded by lights
Got lost in the hype
And I was a little depressed

I couldn't stand the thought
Should our friendship be forgot
On Christmas, no less. I sought to find
Something to prove the words I say
Something to take your breath away
But nothing was coming to mind

Maybe books, coffee, games or hats
But it's so much simpler than that
The best gift is something we share
A friendship with you
And at once I knew
That gift cards just couldn't compare

Just know I've always tried
To be there at your side
When life tends to get in the way
You can trust without fear
That these words will be here
On Christmas, and every day
