A Bottle Of Life Poem by Kean Ghiero

A Bottle Of Life

Rating: 5.0

She is coming,
chasing me
as the night
chases the day
out off this city
as and when
the effervescence
of my life
began to spill out,
the moment
the bottle
was uncorked.

The genie is out,
the sparkle
is long gone,
there is only
a drag left
here, flat
before you.

She is almost
here, the actress
of my acquaintance,
strutting, purring
as a tigress.

I am telling
her: come forward,
you old witch,
help yourself
to drink from
this splendid bottle
of life, dated
1963.
