A Bitter Batter Poem by charles carrelli

A Bitter Batter

Rich and poor, pitiful and proud, ying and yang, right and left, up and down, the good and the bad.
One without the other would be nothing, nonexistent. How could you possibly know joy if you never experienced pain? Or vice versa. Basically in order for these things to exist they need to coexist, they need their opposites. We humans are no different, but like those thing we don’t have a cat to our dog. There is only us we are our own opposites. You can say man and woman but that’s not to the same effect.
A man can be identical to a woman in many ways. Weather it be appearance, belief, morals, or ideals they can share these equally. Rather than hot and cold complete opposites. But for some reason unlike the weather, directions, nature, or all other opposites Man for some reason has not yet found its balance. We can not yet coexist peacefully.
We always finding reasons to divide ourselves from one another, to be at war. We shout and we fight and we close our minds to our differences, when it is those very differences that make us who we are.
We separate our selves into class, rich and poor, white and black, democrats and republicans. For the most part this is needed in order to sustain a functional society, but here’s the kicker.
Why is it that the poor can’t just be poor? Why must they have to suffer along with it? The poor (working class) is a necessity. They are needed if things are to run properly. So why do they have to struggle. They to deserve a house. It may not be a mansion but four walls and roof, maybe they won’t have a Postherpetic
But a bed to sleep in. So they won’t be able to get a $100 dollar lobster every night but they deserve a warm meal daily. You see where I’m going with this we don’t need to hold each other down to lift ourselves up. It would be easier to rise if we were to lift rather than shove, our paths would be a lot easier to walk down if we weren’t walking on others.
And this is the same for everything whether it be race, financial standings, or our political preferences.
