A Baby's Breath ' Poem by MAXINE P. SOSO

A Baby's Breath '

Rating: 2.0

A baby's breath,
taken completely out of it's element
by mindless individuals who prey
on the innocent
slithering through the darkness
violating unmentionable territory
playing the role of devoted parents,
priests, teachers, coaches, etc.

Diabolically plotting each move
with such precision and, preparation
all the while carrying on
with their every day routine
though they continue to scheme
How can they take
that innocent face and, replace it
with a warped desire for pleasure?

How can they seduce
something so small
so unfinished, barely developed?
How can they force
their full-grown self
Into something the size of a keyhole?

Castration for this violation
should be a law
A Baby's Breath,
Is the most precious thing in the world
And,
Should always be treasured.
