9/11 Poem by Ryan Brodesser

9/11

Sadness rules this day
the day our city and nation fell into silence
our peace destroyed and skyscrapers broken
The day of tears unnumbered and anger spoken
The smoke, fire and twisted wire
Brought us into shock, and then unquenchable ire
The day, planes crashed into America’s heart
The day that ripped thousands apart
We fight and repay, the blood staining the attackers hands
Our anger burning like red hot brands
Rest in peace, rest in peace, those slain
For you have not died in vain
