820 Miles Endurance To Pickford, Vt Poem by Rhonda Baker

820 Miles Endurance To Pickford, Vt

Rating: 5.0

We left the Great Lake State
Taking 90 to Vermont to meet our fate
A mid-March excursion across five states
Eight hundred and twenty miles, with dozens of tollgates
Mile after mile. Each a duplicate of the other
Surrounded by so much of nothing, I begin to smother
Each joint of my body begins to ache
When will it end? For heaven sake!
Finally… In upper New York, the mountains begin
You can see forever in a land with no end
Steep rock walls line the roads
Tiny waterfalls in downward modes
After finishing our task, we begin to explore
To Howe Cavern,17 stories below the earths floor
Then on to Niagara, to see it state side
The Canadians have a better view. I must confide.
On to Cleveland to check out the zoo
Pretty much like home, the same basic view
Except for their Rain forest, that was the best part
It renewed my spirit, and gave new heart
Then back to Michigan "Home Sweet Home"
My wanderlust fulfilled… No need to roam
