6th Floor Fun

Think I will check into the 6th floor of the hospital,
Tonight.

Been awhile.
I’d like to see my friends.

Most of all
I would like to sleep.

Last time
I made a promise
To a schizophrenic
That I wouldn’t
“Try that.” Again.

I recognized him as a guru
Until the night
It took 6 nurses to hold him down.
And he swore
That if they left him go
He wouldn’t
“Try that.” Again.

I can’t remember the last time
I experienced good company.

They like me there
On the 6th floor.
Especially now
That I have insurance.

And I like them.
And I like their drugs.

It’s fun to play make-believe.

Just Home and Love! the words are small
Four little letters unto each;
And yet you will not find in all
The wide and gracious range of speech
Two more so tenderly complete:
