.5. Who’s There? Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Who’s There?

Rating: 5.0

Shiny cobbled streets be wary
Hazy mist a little scary
Darkness falling shadows cast
Night again to long will last

Mantles flame on street lamps flicker
Wise folk walk a little quicker
Eerie echoes rattle round
Streets deserted nothing found

By the graveyards iron-gate
Walking faster can’t be late
Deep inside your stomachs churning
Out alone and never learning

Footsteps clatter on the stone
Very sure you’re not alone
In the darkness there’s a figure
Getting closer getting bigger

Pounding heart this is no fun
The walk has now become a run
Ten more steps you reach your door
Safe inside now fear no more
