.5. The Watcher Poem by David Threadgold

.5. The Watcher

Rating: 5.0

A carpet of primrose
Midst bulrush and reeds
Lining the banks
Where a kingfisher feeds

Small brown water vole
Cleaning fur with a lick
Dives into the water
And disappears quick

Large brown dragonfly
Fragile wings beat at speed
While duck, drake and mallard
All feast on the weed

Striped perch and bream
Break the surface for fly
Young boy in a boat
Rowing hard passes by

Here I am the watcher
Sat under a tree
Watching the wildlife
Whilst they all watch me
