.5. Save Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Save

Save the sunshine from an early spring
Save time’s I’ve heard a blackbird sing
Save the greenest leaf from the tallest tree
Save the clean fresh air we breathe for free

Save the longest day and summers sun
Save mountain streams where waters run
Save a shady place from the hottest day
Save time to let the children play

Save changing colours in autumn’s larder
Save teamwork when the jobs get harder
Save the badgers set from a hunter’s view
Save excitement when you try things new

Save the crunchy snow on a frosty morn
Save a deep red sky from an early dawn
Save the carols sung in a house so fine
Save roasted chestnuts and hot mulled wine

Save the New Year parties from long ago
Save friends that you’ve been pleased to know
Save the auld Lang syn from twelve o’clock
Save all of these and let the New Year rock
