.5. Mixed Up Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Mixed Up

Rating: 5.0

I’ve tried to colour poetry
Mixed words upon a palette
Tried to shape the solid words
Like sculptors with a mallet

I’ve tried to weave a picture
Used coloured threads on loom
Made lots of simple carpets
Like the ones within your room

I’ve tried to green up nature
When the leaves start turning brown
Even mixing laughter
Like a chuckle from a clown

I’ve tried to change the blue days
By making letters red
Filled in the focal patterns
For the sheets upon your bed

I’ve tried to mix things wisely
Laid them out to make them stay
But every time the blacks touch white
I can only colour grey
