.4. All Things Bright Poem by David Threadgold

.4. All Things Bright

Rating: 5.0

Next time I must check before planting
When the merchant delivers my seed
I ploughed the top field in the morning
Made sure that I’d cleared it of weed

All the large soil lumps made finer
Each worked to a very small till
Then hitched up my seed sowing trailer
And sack after sack did I fill

It drilled to the depth seed required
The growing time shouldn’t take long
Watered till shoots started showing
I then saw that something was wrong

The seed I had ordered was turnip
A crunchy veg purple and white
My merchant slipped up and sent pansy
Which doesn’t cook well but looks bright
