.3. I Nearly Poem by David Threadgold

.3. I Nearly

Rating: 5.0

I nearly won the football pools
The man next door won first
I nearly found a dog with speed
But I must have picked the worst

I nearly won the national
The jockey’s horse was shying
I nearly won the lottery
But I know the balls weren’t trying

I nearly won the boat race
The team I picked didn’t start
But I really won the one I love
When you came first in my heart

Well, at least the consolation prize was the best! Grand slam and best of shows! Great Dave! (10)
