Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
...
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
...
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
...
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
...
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
...
The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
...
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
...
I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets. You can read as many as you want, and also submit your own poems to share your writings with all our poets, members, and visitors.
FROM off a hill whose concave womb reworded
A plaintful story from a sistering vale,
My spirits to attend this double voice accorded,
And down I laid to list the sad-tuned tale;
Ere long espied a fickle maid full pale,
Tearing of papers, breaking rings a-twain,
Storming her world with sorrow's wind and rain.
Upon her head a platted hive of straw,
Which fortified her visage from the sun,
Whereon the thought might think sometime it saw
The carcass of beauty spent and done:
Time had not scythed all that youth begun,
Nor youth all quit; but, spite of heaven's fell rage,
Some beauty peep'd through lattice of sear'd age.
Oft did she heave her napkin to her eyne,
Which on it had conceited characters,
Laundering the silken figures in the brine
That season'd woe had pelleted in tears,
And often reading what contents it bears;
As often shrieking undistinguish'd woe,
In clamours of all size, both high and low.
Sometimes her levell'd eyes their carriage ride,
As they did battery to the spheres intend;
Sometime diverted their poor balls are tied
To the orbed earth; sometimes they do extend
Their view right on; anon their gazes lend
To every place at once, and, nowhere fix'd,
...
In the thin classroom, where your face
was noble and your words were all things,
I find this boily creature in your place;
find you disarranged, squatting on the window sill,
irrefutably placed up there,
like a hunk of some big frog
watching us through the V
of your woolen legs.

In the depths of my being lies a hole,
A void that echoes of despair and pain,
A cavity where loneliness takes its toll,
A wound where love fails to sustain.
There's a hole in my heart, gaping wide,
An emptiness that no light can fill,
No good food to eat, nowhere to hide,
Just a hunger that time cannot kill.
...
In the deep depths of the soul,
Where divine silence reigns,
Prayer blossoms bold.
A sacred flame untamed!
...
MyKoul, how long you'll neglect,
To pray within?
In silence, prayer grows bold.
Could anyone prefer living,
...
Take one last breath...
Hold it deep inside.
Leap abruptly from above.
Fly one last flight.

My Question?
If A PERSON, makes a conscience choice to tell another Human being, and has not been
manipulated, threaten, nor forced to say I Love you. Did the said Human being have any idea that A PERSON had no intention of be honest, and didn't really mean what they said
did they even care that the Human being took them seriously by investing their time and emotions.

Cherry blossoms fall along the park ways,
Swaying in the wind, azaleas bloom in spring days,
Yellow stamens and pistils adorn the pine branches,
The blue threads of the willow leaves flutter like wings on hanches.

The New Hip
It was 1972 and my dad was sick. Well maybe not sick in the usual sense of the word, but his hip was. He was in Boston, it was mid-winter, and he was an orthopedic patient in the Robert Bent Brigham Hospital.

The Day I Hit The Bear
The day started out like most days in the mountains. The sky was bright but not entirely sunny. It was a Friday morning at 8: 37 when I pulled out of my ‘economy' motel on the eastern outskirts of Roanoke.

In late winter at Han river, the midday sunrays warmly giggle,
On the long thawed riverbank, the wind's warm and green hues wiggle.
Above the water, ducks and geese pass busily through the space,
In the middle of the river, motorboats stir up foam as they race.
...
Ducks float across the blue waters,
And hurry to their way, and on the sky,
According the southerly blows,
The Geese slice thru the white clouds and fly,

T'is the calm before the storm.
The seas of my tormented soul
are brewing with corrupted thoughts.
Creating waves of uncertainty underneath my core.

Through the shadows of time quiet whispers echo,
softly, hauntingly they linger
lost in the murmur of death, and life.
In the stillness of time they find their voice,

I dwell
In the absence
You left behind

If you die before me
I would jump down into your grave
and hug you so innocently
that angels will become jealous.

I travel the world
Today in Japan, tomorrow in Rome,
Next day by an ancient civilization or in Hawaii or Coast Ivory,

The low lands call
I am tempted to answer
They are offering me a free dwelling

Wrapped with gratitude,
Offered to peace prone people
Who offer what is real-themselves

Lust is chaos, love is art.
