2016 Attack In Nice, France Poem by Daya Nandan

2016 Attack In Nice, France

It was Bastille Day in the city of Nice in France,
People celebrating nationalism as their hearts dance,
Fireworks were colouring and lighting up the night skies,
Crowds cheering with the spirit of patriotism in their eyes,

But unfortunately things took a change for the worst that day,
When a terrorist decided to make innocent lives his prey,
A 19-tonne cargo truck was deliberately driven into crowds,
The driver shooting people under the melancholic greyish clouds,

A motorcyclist tried to pull open the truck driver's side door,
Clung on to the vehicle, risking falling down to the road floor,
He was forced to let go after the driver directed a gun at him,
Before the French police opened fire to end the situation of grim,

At least 84 people were killed and 303 were injured that day,
By an evil terrorist who made innocent lives his prey,
I hope governments take more precautions to prevent such attacks,
To save innocent lives and stop terrorists in their tracks.
