…2 in the bush

There's a nest in a bush in the garden
2 chicks have hatched
Quiet!
Quiet!
Chris and Robin
Are saying their prayers

A protective mother
Hovers overhead
Hush!
Hush!
Chris and Robin
Are saying their prayers

Whisper who dares!
They are keeping warm
Snug!
Snug!
Chris and Robin
Are saying their prayers

They are blackbirds
All three
Together!
Together!
Chris and Robin
Are saying their prayers

Mother flies off
To find them some food
Fatter!
Fatter!
Chris and Robin
Are saying their prayers

There's a nest in the bush in the garden
2 chicks have hatched
Quiet!
Quiet!
Chris and Robin
Are saying their prayers

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
