1984 Poem by Jim Milks

1984

Truly how long ago was 1984,
twenty-five years by the calendar,
no less no more
the past is an island with a deserted shore
where planes still fly in the air
and towers stand for ever more

wrapped up in textbooks secure in the past
where children run free wild and fast
with no fears of a sudden blast
