He's going back to the oak by the river today
above the water fall where her favourite place was
the place where he last saw her prior to her departure
before everything changed for the worse
Before she left the river was wide and strong
and the banks were grassy and covered with flowers
now the river bed is dry as ash
and nothing grows alongside it anymore
All the trees and plants have long since gone
withered and died
not even the birds sing anymore
if any still remain in the area
Every month on the same day
he goes to the same place to wait for her return
but every day he ends up crying
alone and disappointed
the sea that his tears form
end up sending tsunamis running down the valley
terrifying the people down stream
10 months of waiting and still no sign
but he still hasn't given up just yet
another 6 months will he await her homecoming
before he leaves the place forever
and condemns the area to death
Sounds like it was such a beautiful place. Very sad. I hope she returned. Thank you
A very nice, emotion filled and passionate poem. I really like it sir. It is such a sorrowful and pathetic experience to loose a person so dear to your heart. You have really chosen a very good title that summarises the whole poem while it keeps the reader in suspense, yes, to search for its meaning. Lovely poem. Nicely captured!
makes me wonder! i like it! ================================ i googled to see what the title means and found a wikipedia article about a song, from around 2004, with the same title and a similar theme, but a VERY different set of words (i read the english, from german i believe, translation) . here is an excerpt from the article: Ohne dich (Without You) is a power ballad by German band Rammstein from the album Reise, Reise. It can be seen as expressing mourning over the loss of a... [i saw a note also of a 2014 TV movie titled Ohne Dich.] i like 'John's 'lyrics' a lot more. ======================== i especially liked the following: now the river bed is dry as ash AND the sea that his tears form end up sending tsunamis running down the valley the people down stream are lucky he isn't visiting the site every day! ! ! they wouldn't last long under the deluge(s) ! it works well without rhymes. thanks for sharing. bri :)
