10 years

the days seem brighter
once you acknowledge
that nothing looks the way
you expect it to
i sleep better
knowing that i can have it
if i understand
he may leave
at any point
that there are girls
who are more enticing
but i can smile
in the illusion
because when
omitting some words
you're so sweet
i'll be as trusting
as ryan adams
must be now
he's 10 years
older than me
but i think
i'm 10 years
more bitter my love
