how long before the measures
put in place by the state
'for our protection'
become the apparatus
of a repressive and
totalitarian state?
'Oh it can't happen here, we're a free country'...
but children never know the experience of
their parents' lost inner freedoms of the mind.

Excellent piece Michael, containing enough menacing undertone to force the question. I always thought that poetry can be a strong form for propaganda, but few poets suceed (influence of Soviet Social realism still prevails) . This succeeds well.
