Phyllis Fry Poems

There are times we'd like to spread our wings
Throwing caution to the wind
Not realizing things most precious
Are things that pin our wings. Freedom demands much wisdom
...

Is your boat tied securely,
Or is it drifting with the tide?
If a storm comes while you're careless,
Will your compass yet confide? Drifting is so easy
...

We are part of a changing world
Bystanders in a whirl
Of fast moving moments
Watching world events unfurl.

Spreading Our Wings

There are times we'd like to spread our wings
Throwing caution to the wind
Not realizing things most precious
Are things that pin our wings. Freedom demands much wisdom
Harmony is hard to maintain;
Are we ready for responsibility
If we gamble everything? We see wild birds in flight
We envy them their freedom.
Freedom means they have no protection
Nor loving care to ease their plight. Patience and growth in wisdom
Protecting our family and homes
Means we can more readily handle freedom
When the time finally comes.
