A young man comes to rest
The day is done and he has given his best
But the goals that he set for himself are unmet
And the goals were not lofty that he set
...

That moment of hesitation
That feeling of desperation
You feel weak in this field
Because of you skills degradation
...

I sit at my desk and the seat is cold The pain in my side makes me feel old The absence of movement makes me realize the load That I currently carry is pushing me into overload
I live life at breakneck speed Flying forward struggling to breath The mere sensation of a slowdown Is so unusual that is sends me to meltdown
Look at my life like a truck on the highway Onward forward doing things the right way Now as I fly down the road as I think The details of life are gone in an eye blink
I feel like a missile flying through the air Faster than the mind can think or care Then the slowdown hits and all that was shaken off Come back to my shoulders like a cape of cloth
...

A flame in the rain

A flame in the rain
It doesn't last long
...

Proving His Worth

A young man comes to rest
The day is done and he has given his best
But the goals that he set for himself are unmet
And the goals were not lofty that he set

Just to fix a machine previously broken
Was the thing he desired, a recognizable token
Of the skills he has honed throughout his life
That had come to him through struggle and strife

But alas it was not to be
His work went up in flames and he
Was grieved beyond words at this little blunder
That caused his hard work to go asunder

But when the flames cease and the scene cools
All is not lost except for the fools
Who give up there and say I am done
Instead of looking up and saying that was fun

Oh the learning that comes from trials
The ability to analyze through your own style
Forged in the fire of failure and pain
Comes a warrior who will rise again and again

The young man walks to the bed that he keeps
Where his pillow knows trials for often he weeps
And oftener still he bends his knees
To pray to the Lord of the earth our majesty

Now he lowers his head as he prepares to rest
For tomorrow is a new day, trial, and test
He exhales slowly as he lies down
For into his sleep he will slowly drown

And in the morning as the legends go
The man will arise, invigorated we know
To do today what he failed before
To work with passion to attack the door

The door of success which all can go through
But the cost of entry is up to you
Will you work hard and attack your work
Like a young man proving his worth
