Trapped Inside

Trapped inside a hell of your making
unwilling to escape the walls you put in place
stumbling along
oblivious to the pain left in your wake

No matter how much we plead and pray
you turn to the demons you now call friends
we cannot make the choice for you
the answer must come from within

I try to look back to the one I once knew
but the image is marred and hazy
The one that resonates the most
is the shell of the person before me

Seeped in anger at the anguish you have caused
to the ones who hold you most dear
people who would do anything
but can only watch in fear

I think of that sweet little girl
the very one you call your own
I think of the mother and father
who gladly welcomed you back home

Your hands seem tied and your feet tethered
to follow this course of destruction
I think of you trapped in your prison walls
and my anger turns into sorrow
