As I sit down to a book and look out the window
I view a large portrait with rain falling like long silver needles
and the sky as a giant gray mountain thrusting each needle
down on earth with a pitter-pattery rhythm

God's Path

I walk in uncertainty
and stumble in doubt
I'm not sure what the path's about,
I just keep walking

I move through rain
I move on my knees
Where it ends, I can't see
I just keep walking

I find bits of love
and boulders of sadness
and though it just brings me madness
I just keep walking

The path is hard
The pavement is sharp
The sound I hear ain't no harp
I just keep walking

And as I walk, I think, why do I ponder these small difficulties?

I just know that I've been saved
and that is why I'm full of joy
With many reasons to hate
I have a thousand more to enjoy

I can hop like a frog
and fly like a bee
I can dance the night away
and fill myself with glee

God's path is long
and that's why it's great
With the joys that I find
there's no reason to simply hate.
