They said the wound had been opened up too often
You can only carve so many times
Until the innards unravel, like claret ribbons.
...

Return to what is yours

Cast aside all the doubt
That clouds your anguished mind
...

Whisper Goodbye, there's no you in 'i'

No guilt to suffocate
The light from tired eyes.
...

Run to the edge of the world
As fast as legs will carry
Hand in hand
Stare through the picket fence.
...

I'm not a lost cause
Just a cause for concern
When you survey my face
With wondering eyes

Asylum

They said the wound had been opened up too often
You can only carve so many times
Until the innards unravel, like claret ribbons.

Don't embrace what you can't claim
The touch will draw blood and the scars won't fade
It will hurt to feel but the numbness is fatal
There are no limits for a house with no lights left on.

Committed to the asylum
They'll spend days banging heads against walls
To the tune of the haunted song that echoes through the hall
Step right up, there's no story to tell
Just a chemical imbalance, a birth affliction
Crazy like all the rest.

You can keep the photographs they'll last longer than us
And if we tell them a bright light shone from the sky
Like a twisted angel of death
And it took everything we ever believed in
Would they fry our brains til we doubt our memories are real

Relinquish all the blame, they never stayed long enough
To hear the rest of the story
They didn't care enough
To hear the rest of my story.
