Nate Peligeiro Poems

What do you do with a dead kiss?
I know when it died
and haven't since
been able to resurrect it.
...

alchemical reaction
ash brought back to life
bleed the veins
stretch the next
...

impending doom must die
be hacked down
and dragged away
...

I've lamented the rush for years.
I've never enjoyed an adequate pace.
Everybody sprinting toward the finish line
still obsessed with arriving first.
...

Up against incredible odds,
why break myself? I thought.
I'll lie low and weather the storm.
When the time comes,
...

since stumbling into this dustbowl
my eyes have been red

i've left three times
...

I once wrote a poem
to a waitress
at a bar
I frequented.
...

Outside again,
the moon has put itself
directly over
my enemy.
...

9.

The world is a dead fish,
and I'm its lifeless gills.
If death has a face,
it is mine.
...

I was at El Harem
last night…
Tonight
I have a date
...

Why in the company of others am I more alone than if I had no one at all?
Lonely Boy asked Whispering Wind.
Why is it so hard to find someone who understands?
Lonely Boy, puzzled, kept riding.
...

I fell into the trap
I took the bait
knew it was too good to be true
and still proceeded without enough care
...

Since long ago,
for many years
I've loved drinking alone
and listening to Tommy
...

Blue smoke curls to the moon,
I smoke,
I think.
I ask, why me?
...

I have knowledge of the Twin Serpent Song.
I have knowledge of the Twin Serpent Dance.
It comes in many forms.
It's always different.
...

I got the job.
I got the apartment.
Now I just need the girl,
who, if having met first

Nate Peligeiro Biography

I’d like to think I write travelogues. Tom Waits said his songs were travelogues. But I’m not a travel writer. Behind the Wheel deals with time spent in Mexico. It’s a tale of being had, drinking, debauchery, Mexican drug cartels, downward spirals, redemption (upward spirals) , and dreams turning into nightmares. It’s personal but it’s also timely and deals with drugs, violence, and border issues. BtW is set for a January 2013 release through Musa Publishing. My blog at http: //npeligeiro.blogspot.com.br/ is also home to various poems and the future residence of forthcoming works.)

What Do You Do With A Dead Kiss?

What do you do with a dead kiss?
I know when it died
and haven't since
been able to resurrect it.

Haven't been able to resurrect
any of its companions either.

She's convinced we can
bring the dead back to life.
I'm not so sure.

I haven't given up
but I'm not so hopeful
anymore.

Maybe some time apart.
Maybe a little taste of loss.
Maybe I'll miss her
maybe not.
