My Best Friend

Everyday I wake up with a sigh,
Thinking, 'Could this be the day',
The day when I could finally tell you my deepest feeling to you,
A feeling beyond compare,
That even the sun and moon would be less important to the earth,
than you are to me.
But enough day-dreaming,
For I know that you and I could never be together,
Just like the north pole and the south pole could never be together,
even when they're on the same planet,
For this the reality,
My reality.
I only say this because I've seen the way she looks at you,
The way she stares at you,
The way she talks with you,
The way that both of your eyes, and his, look into each other,
Like you're meant to be together,
till death do you part.
But does she not know,
that he's my best friend,
My friend since we were kids,
My friend, that has been good to me,
That's been dear and kind to me.
Does she not know,
That we've laughed and played with each other,
Fought and cried with each other,
Been through all the highs and lows together? !
But, the truth is,
she does,
And yet,
she doesn't care,
Or at least pretends like she doesn't.
But still,
Why did she chose him over me?
He's not as caring as me,
Nor is he as protective,
He's been pegged as the schools' playboy,
Toying with other girls' feelings,
As if they don't have feelings themselves,
And she still chose him over me.
But let this be clear,
It's not that he's a bad person,
Or doesn't care about girls,
Or even thought them as bandages.
No, oh, no,
He's like that because he still hasn't found the right one yet,
The one he has been searching for,
his whole miserable life,
The one to share his true self with,
The one who could really see past all the bad and horrible things inside him,
And maybe, just maybe,
make it into something beautiful.
Like her.
I know this,
because I'm his best friend,
We've shared our deepest secrets with each other,
We even know each others' feelings towards her,
Like how we would walk across the longest dessert,
swim across the biggest and deepest sea,
how we would do just about anything,
Only see her smile.
I know,
because, like him,
I love her too.
Alas,
she chose him,
And likewise,
he chose her too,
And they made a decision to be together,
maybe forever, in holy matrimony.
And she might not be loved,
as much as I would, to her,
And she might not be treated,
as much as I would, to her,
But she will receive all of his loving,
and all of his kindness, deservingly,
As much as he could, to her.
Yet again,
I say this because I know,
that both of them will be happy with each other,
And I know this because,
She's with him,
The greatest man I know,
on the face of this great, big world,
My one and only, by far truly,
best friend...
