Micah Kistler Poems

The day that she left
I died inside
I haven't felt like that in a while
She laughed and she danced
...

As the old man sat upright,
he looked out into the ocean,
gazing at the sea.
'Red sky in the morning' he said
...

Can you believe it?
How it must be to live freely

in today's world.
...

Look at me.
I am nothing.
Far from free,
But the freest I have ever been.
...

I knew a man who went to a city by the ocean.
They say the angels reside there.
My angel lived in that city.
She had golden skin and long, brown hair
...

How cruel it must be to love
When love will never be given in return
The only thought is spiraling
When gifts wither to ash and burn
...

The Day I Died

The day that she left
I died inside
I haven't felt like that in a while
She laughed and she danced
She said her goodbye
That was the day I died inside
Two years is too long
But so far,
distance has been kind
For they say
in their own little way
How distance makes the heart
Grow fonder each and every little day
Day by day I started drinking the pain away
She stole my heart by the sea
If only she knew
Though she already knew
How much I cared
How much she meant to me.
