Melissa Wagner Poems

Shivering in the cold,
walking briskly,
holding the cup of hot chocolate with both hands.
...

Symbols of Freedom.
Engraved stories will
never be erased.
Stories of History.
...

The Journey traveled without shortcuts,
is a journey worth taking.
For there are no shortcuts,
to any place worth going.
...

A simple cross,
the symbol of our boss.
Just a plain, old tree,
is all many see.
...

The rush of water flowing,
pouring over cliffs.

The pounding roar,
...

Memories. That's all I have.
Those precious moments, fleeting by.
Treasured forever, kept safe in my heart.
Times up at the cabin, before Grandpa got sick.
...

Hope is a flower.
It may bloom in springtime,
and all through summer.
But eventually it will die,
...

How can the sky be so blue
and the grass be so green?
how can it be,
that I sit here today
...

The way the words rhyme,
more beautiful than bells' chime.

Each writing a work of art,
...

If my soul could speak,
what would it speak of?

Would it speak of my past,
...

Walking, walking,
just keep walking.
Through the cold,
through the wind,
...

Fish and Chips.
Chips that aren't really chips.
Chips that are fries, and yet called chips.
What's the point,
...

When cars collide,
both automobiles are demolished.

When people collide,
...

The film is rolling,
the backdropp pleasing to the eye.

The actors acting,
...

15.

Need I not,
a memorial made of stone.
Of marble, glass,
or gold.
...

Adoration.
Feel a devotion to your emotion.
Respect and admire them.
Give them strength when they are weak.
...

This mask,
is permanent.
This mask,
is inevitable.
...

Love is a band-aid,
to cover up the pain.
Got lost in the love,
and start livin' life.
...

I am a bird.

Feathers light as can be,
because I am so carefree.

The Metaphorical Christian Life

Shivering in the cold,
walking briskly,
holding the cup of hot chocolate with both hands.

A thought came to me,
a metaphor it's called,
but it seemed to be true.

The metaphor,
to be explained clearly,
is this...

The cold is life,
our troubles,
our problems.

God it the cup of hot chocolate,
warming us, both
inside and out.

When we pass someone in need,
we give them a drink,
filling their cup.

Then God,
being the loving, caring God he really is,
refills our own.

It may sound cheesy,
but if you really think,
that's how the ideal Christian should act.

So why don't we?
How come we take the whole cup for ourselves?
Love is not love unless shared.

Giving the needy a drink,
doesn't need to be literal.
All it could be is a smile...
