Here I am. I’m here.
Living? Or simply existing?
Bottled up fear
And yet, wishing.

Melinda McQueen Biography

Hello, I'm Melinda from Texas. I want to be published but have had trouble. I'm in a chair with Cerebral Palsy and writing is my outlet. I have found deep pleasure in writing poetry. Writing helps me express my emotions. Sometimes when I'm sad, I sit in front of my computer and begin typing. I type until I get an idea; from there, I proceed to write a poem. When I complete a poem I feel much better. I guess you could say I feel at peace with myself. But I don't just write when I'm sad. I write when I'm happy. I write when I want someone to know how I feel about them, when I'm unable to tell them face to face. I also write just to remind myself and others not to take life for granted. I also write to glorify God. I believe He instilled in me the gift of writing, and I'm glad I'm able to share my poetry with you in hope that my writing touches you.)

America's Heartbeat

Ever growing in pride,
Knowing what it takes
To stand strong when tried.
America’s heartbeat remains.

Freedom still comes at a price,
A soldier lost his life today.
Hearts are low, but spirits high.
America’s heartbeat is gain.

She lifts high her head
With the hope of making things right.
Strongly and reverently lead,
America’s heartbeat ever resides.

She breathes in freedom
And speaks of hope for the future.
Her song longs to be sung,
America’s heartbeat desires to be pure.

Feeling the pangs
Of her labor and will,
She elects her fame.
America’s heartbeat, strong and still.

She’s known from which she’s named,
For instilled in her is integrity and justice.
Red, white and blue run through her veins,
America’s heartbeat is in every dream and wish.
