Maylynn Hughes Poems

The broken threads of broken dreams
and deserted hopes.
Long nights, with little sleep
and a lot of pain.
...

Freedom, Liberty and Justice for all!
Interpret this before we take a fall
Reiterate until the embers glow
Empower the fire of the collective soul
...

Tonight will be like none other, as we manifest our will
Onto and upon each other, until our spirits are still.
Nothing else matters when we meet and become one.
Intelligent, combining our essence in veneration.
...

Beyond the stars of the range
A splash of hell, a current of strange
Bitter water drips
distantly in the darkness
...

VISION
Virtual prescience in bold, bright colors
intricate in details to the final pictures.
Seen 'fore and aft, comparison of fact.
...

I sit in the loud silence,
of my room in complete isolation
From all that I love,
all that I need, taking into consideration
...

An epiphany came to me
of why I was born a human to be
A humane human; the very definition
of Humanity!
...

On an exploration of this sublime freedom
With the illusion of secluded wanderlust
Enter in dreaming, an enigmatic kingdom
Perception is the forlorn problem we discuss
...

Catalyst of time in life changing decisions
Happenstance is everything with revisions
Anchored to a mono pantheon in dreams
Noting that color can and will rhyme in screams
...

Borrowing time for the moment to be real
Intensity to the extreme, just to feel.
Retro only in idea of the modern mind
Thrilling to the ethereal spirit divine.
...

I gaze upon the world of man and wonder why?
Why do we as humans completely defy
The natural laws of the universe in vain
Like we can stop the wind and the rain.
...

Happily neurotic to placate the realm
Ardent in the illusion at the one helm
Patchwork coincidence with comity
Per chance sellable as a commodity
...

Voices Murmured Like Broken Threads...

The broken threads of broken dreams
and deserted hopes.
Long nights, with little sleep
and a lot of pain.
Hoping to hear the plunk-plop
of the rain...
Against the window pane
and like the rain

My bones ache
as the tears run from my eyes
down my cheeks
until they dry
and flake off my lashes
like yesterdays skin.

And the beat goes on
like voices murmuring
and broken threads...

And broken threads
like our broken dreams
fringes over the edge of the abyss.

As we find we miss
the true meaning of 'being'
on this planet of yesterdays
and tomorrows
with endless sorrows.

And the beat goes on
like voices murmuring
and broken threads

Leaving us nothing left
to say
or do
But to break more threads
and bury our broken dreams
in barren lands
with terrified screams

and the beat goes on...

But as one questions
where we will finally rest?
We seek instead to move on.

In the murmured voices
of broken threads

And the beat goes on....
