Matthew Buck Poems

Greater than the Angels and
Greater than Moses.
You tasted death for us all.
You give us rest when we fall.
...

I feel like my life is going stale,
But I know in You I will prevail.
Reignite the fire, strike up some matches,
In the meantime I'll don sackcloth and ashes.
...

When I want to do right, I still do wrong,
Only in you, am I made strong.
No one could ever, love me like you,
More than a carpenter, son of a Jew.
...

There is a great weight on my shoulders, but it's not mine alone to bear,
To me it represents freedom, but others see despair.

There is a great weight on my shoulders, it weighs 125 pounds,
Some say that it's too heavy and I need to put it down.
...

You're in my heart, you saved my soul,
To you my life, I give control.
You lift me up when I am down,
At your feet I cast my crown.
...

In my times of trouble,
In my times of grief.
There is only One Way,
I know I'll find relief.
...

When this world tries to knock me down,
I turn to The One, who wears the crown,
From thorns to gold it transformed,
Defeating death I've been reborn!
...

I once was walking in the dark.
Lost and lonely, no walk in the park.
Then I saw Your shining light,
So I took off running with all my mite.
...

I lie, I lust, I steal and I cheat,
I am but filthy rags at your feet.
Why do I do the things that I do?
When I know that they will never please you.
...

During Christmas, we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus. I'm here to tell you that:
My trust isn't placed in a baby born in Bethlehem whom the angels sing, but it's placed in The Man that died in Calvary to be my King
My faith isn't placed in a baby that Herod failed to kill, but it's placed in The Man that Pilot handed over to the Romans on Skull Hill.
My Salvation doesn't come from a baby that three wise men brought frankincense, gold and murr,
...

It was a hot summer night in the middle of June,
The radio was playing our favorite tune.
Laying on a blanket looking up at the sky,
There I got lost in your big blue eyes.
...

It's been another sleepless night,
So I decided I would write……

Behind every one of my smiles, there is 1,000 tears,
...

We never went on our first date,
Because I was too afraid to ask.
These feelings I feel inside,
Are much easier for me to mask.
...

A crown of thorns upon his head,
our sin released in drops of red.
As blood flowed freely down his face,
We caught a vision of thy grace!

Ode To Jesus

Greater than the Angels and
Greater than Moses.
You tasted death for us all.
You give us rest when we fall.

The Perfect Sacrifice,
Bound by love to a cross.
Only you have the power to save.
Only you could conquer the grave!

Merciful and Faithful,
Our High Priest before God,
You understand our weakness and,
Became flesh clothed in meekness.

The Perfect Sacrifice,
Bound by love to a cross.
Only you have the power to save.
Only you could conquer the grave!

King of Justice, King of Peace,
An anchor for our souls.
Without beginning, You have no end,
Holy and blameless, unstained by sin!

The Perfect Sacrifice,
Bound by love to a cross.
Only you have the power to save.
Only you could conquer the grave!

Now we can boldly enter,
Heaven's Most Holy Place,
For the Blood of Jesus,
Leads to a Throne of Grace!
