God gave a little girl
To a mother
To love and care for.
In time, the mother
...

A lady in our town
Not really old but seemed so;
She wore this little red hat,
No matter where she went.
...

In all the hurry and the flurry
Along life's sad and weary road,
There seems so much fret and worry
That it all becomes a useless load.

My Other Mother

God gave a little girl
To a mother
To love and care for.
In time, the mother
Grew tired of caring for the child
So off to the orphanage
And Children's Home for someone else to care for her.
God seeing this state of affairs,
Willed that another woman
Should become her mother,
One who would love and care for her.
The girl grew up under tender care,
Married, and had a family.
The birth family it seemed,
Never wanted to know her.
But each day in prayer
I thank God for giving me
My other dear mother.
I am that little girl.
