Lori Hopkins Poems

a dog's tail
a bit of ale
just a dropp or two
stir it twice
...

i lost my glass slipper

well really a shoe
...

life is fleeting

passes swiftly by
...

your easy bake oven
why didn't i bake with you?
can't go back and do
the things we didn't do
...

through the forest glades
the sylvan frecks about
a comely maiden wades
alone she has no doubt
...

Here I lay on cold concrete
No more grass beneath my feet
Want to leave but don't know how
Oh sweet family
...

climbing trees
skinned up knees
the smell of fresh mowed grass
roller kates with big yellow wheels
...

weeping willow looking so sad
branches hanging low
moon is shinning bright tonight
makes your weeping branches glow
...

in this trap
only one way out
death can set me free
dark thoughts in my head
...

lilting miss spider weaves her gossamer web
demure little caterpillar soon will be dead
her evanescent tapestry bedewed in the April Sun
this furtive little nemesis to nearly everyone

Witch's Brew

a dog's tail
a bit of ale
just a dropp or two
stir it twice
very nice
tis how ye make a witches brew
a dragon's scale
a bit of spice
just a pinch will do
the slime of a snail
dont mind the smell
tis not mutton stew
it be witches brew
eye of newt
wing of bat
and don't forget the cherub's fat
venom of snake
and scorpion too
tis how ye make a witches brew
lizzards and gizzards
make it thick like goo
finger of a dead man
and entrails too
stir it thrice
very nice
oh what a tasty potion
tis how ye make a witches brew
should ye get the notion
