Song Of War

In our field of broken dreams
We hear the song of broken prayers
It speaks of men far too young
To know of the horrors that await them there

The call of war beckons from the place that heralds Death
The death of thy enemies who stained our lands
The land of the free and beaten

Now they lay beneath tombstones –
Forgotten and unmarked
- Too far from home
And too close to those who had slain them

But still, there are those who remember
Remembers the sight of those who sang
Sang of a song of freedom

Where the warmth of the day could unfreeze your heart
Where the embrace of kin could take you to a place of false paradise
And where the memories of those long lost could return to you whole -

But a dream lies broken -
- in a field of broken prayers
Forever shattered and leaving naught but a song -
A song of war
