What Do You See?

What is it that you see?
When looking back at me.
Is it the same man I remember?
Or just a fading old ember?

Do you see a man in uniform?
Guarding the country from the oncoming storm?
Do you see a man in a suit?
Or just one that is old and destitute?

Am I a familiar face to you?
Or am I stopping you getting to your brew?
Just remember my young friend
That you to will end up here in the end

So next time you look back at me,
Just think of what I see,
Not the old codger that is here now,
But a man who once lifted his hand to his brow.
