Springtime in May
are glorious days
cool and breezy
yet not too freezy

Raindrops and hail tap a beat on my roof
tapping a rhythm, like a running horse's hoof
dancing some jigs, like those of a goof

The Last Thing I Saw

A roof caving in
a bear charging in
the shell of a bomb
the face of my mom.

the fast-coming ground
hailstorms abound
a hole in my parachute
a leak in my spacesuit.

an adder's sharp fangs
street traffic lanes
a fire's burning flame
an arrow, perfectly aimed.

these are the things
some people have seen
from freezing to burning
to a car that careens.
