There we were sitting opposite each other
Just the two of us again
We sat there talking inane banalities

I see you....
And for the next two days
My soul soars high above
Like a kite

They say, absence makes the heart grow fonder
But what if absence goes on and on? We wonder!
They also say, waiting brings rewards sweet
But what will our waiting bring, when we meet?

Twilight seeping in from the setting sun in the ocean,
Lights coming on across the lagoon,
Amidst them the colour-lit heritage building
Glowing in splendour pulling all eyes to it
...

The world spun at breakneck speed and came to a stop

You happened!
...

The petunias are out in force
Heads nodding in nimble glee
They decorate the streets of Dubai in dappled splendour!
By the flyovers, beside the interchanges
...

How do I begin to tell you?
What you mean to me?
Father, friend, the first man in my life!
...

"Is my child okay at school?
Has he reached home from school? Why no call yet?
How will I attend the parents' meeting at his school,
When I have an important meeting to attend at work?
...

There’s a hush all around
There’s hardly any sound
It’s a Ramadan evening!
As the orange ball of the sun dips beneath the ocean
...

We retirees wake up to birds twittering
Owls hooting and crows cawing
Or a far away peafowl mournfully calling
And as more of nature's sounds add to the mornings' music
