    Please note that my uncle Kenneth Allott, although born in Wales, was of Anglo Irish descent. His father, Dr Cyril Allott was working briefly as a locum at the time. By 1914 he was in Cumberland where his second son, my father was born. After that the family moved to Shropshire. Ken's mother was Rose Finlay, born on Tyneside of Irish parents. Ken and Guy were raised as Catholics and Ken always identified with the Irish side of the family.

Ragnarok

Our Trojan world is polarised to mourn;
To dream and find a black spot on the sun,
And wake to love and find our lover gone.

The destination of any weapon is grief.
In homesteads now where joy must seem naive
Under a splitting sky our women conceive.

The towns of houses, massed security
