Kathie Donaldson Poems

A red pickup passes.
My heart skips a beat or two.
For just a fleeting moment
I wonder if it's you.
...

Each night I cry
and wonder why
you felt you had to go.
What was so bad,
...

I'm Sorry...
That's all he wrote.
Two little words on a suicide note.
Sorry for what?
...

Time will change the way I feel.
I'm still waiting.
In time my broken heart will mend

Kathie Donaldson Biography

I am 55 years old. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 37 years. I have loved writing all of my life. I have only posted a couple of poems relating to the death of my son by suicide. He was 29 years old when he killed himself in November,2005. Writing helped me to cope a little. It seems to clear my mind when I put my feelings down on paper. It has always been that way for me. I am also the mother of a daughter who recently gave birth to twin boys. They are a joy and a legacy and proof that life goes on.)

Your Ride

A red pickup passes.
My heart skips a beat or two.
For just a fleeting moment
I wonder if it's you.
How long will this feeling last?
When will it subside?
Why do I still look for you?
I know that you died.
Your truck seemed like a part of you.
You drove it with such pride.
I believe I'll never stop.
I'll look for you inside.
It will always be your ride.
When a red pickup passes
My heart will skip a beat or two.
For just a fleeting moment
I'll wonder if it's you.
