Idol To Adversary

Idol to adversary, hero to villain.
From your loving arms I go, tumbling in your wake.
Paternal faculties apparently abandoned, as am I.
The same voice which once nourished me, now ravages my very being.

A shadow of my former self,
Tasked with the restoration of my identity
The complexion of which, malevolently moulded,
By the hands which used to cocoon my own, and were my safety.

The once impregnable refuge I called home,
Nothing but a hole, full of tainted memories,
Ceaselessly analysed and scrutinised, without conclusion.
Even the seamlessly untouchable, violated, forever cast into doubt.

Relentlessly, I try to move forward, every attempt in vain.
Consumed by anger and torment.
Your words form a cacophony of pain, reverberating around my troubled mind.
The endless, torturous consequences of your actions.

Lest I forget the good you did, the lessons that you taught.
Two decades of your influence, not without benefit.
No longer everything to me, certainly not nothing.
I will carry forward the scars and stories of our arduous journey.

Idol to adversary, hero to villain.
From your loving arms I go, tumbling in your wake.
