Never owned a horse; like catapults, bows and slings, and love a single slow violin... apples and monkey nuts lit up my mind when I was very hungry until about twenty years ago. The Sitka Spruce is an almost perfect life form in my view, but the resin is ridiculously sticky for such a fine tree. Think Looking Into You by Jackson Browne is one of the greatest songs ever. First heard Browne on the beach at Brighouse Bay in the spring of 76 thanks to Donald Clint and Micky Crossan (on the tape player in Micky's pick up truck) after they gave Eleanor and I a lift to the shore one sunny afternoon as we were walking out to the Doon near Kirkcudbright. We stood together on the seven five
Backs to the fields and eyes wide to the light
My thumb hitched high to the random unknown
I didn't know where and wouldn't be shown
We'd learn soon enough we couldn't go home

We sailed straight into yon white water thrill
Down where the furious waves rose and fell
With no going back, and no turning around
We didn't know if we'd make it or drown
Or if something worse might soon bring us down
