Jennie Scheihing Poems

Butterfly, flutterby
Come to me
Take me to Mexico
On your delicate wing.
...

Dear Diary,
I got through another day
I fought my mind
But I survived
...

If I died tonight
Would you even notice?
Would you shed a tear for me?
Would you miss me on those rainy days?
...

The rain fell through the night
Covering up my crying eyes
Singing sweetly
My desperate lullaby
...

I want a boy
Who will love me
Like the old love bird
That only sings
...

I now am stuck
On a steaming train
Billowing smoke
Chasing rain
...

With everything a mystery
A tide of emotion crashing on me
Confusing waves urging toward the sea
With a gentle tune; a lullaby
...

Thanks is a word
So small and worn
On little smiles
It does adorn
...

I can see her standing there
So pitiful, so broken down
Alone in her sadness
Staring at the one she loves
...

Have you ever sang loud and pure
When no one was watching,
When you felt secure?
...

Dear heart.
Could you beat a little slower
Because the frantic rhythm
Is getting to my head
...

There you are again
Another friend
Nothing special
But baby to her
...

Be strong
You will carry on
You'll be okay
Someday
...

She always sits straight, proud and tall
I sit slumped, invisible and small.
She is thin, a winding stair rail
I’m simply not; I seem as big as a whale.
...

An empty page
Waiting patiently,
Staring blankly
Urging me to write
...

I can see the rising brick walls
My shelter
My haven
I can see them in the distance
...

I can't breath. tension,
Anger, pain
Coursing through my veins.
Perfection
...

They are wrong. I am
Not. I can quit you
Anytime I want. I
Am not addicted. I can
...

11: 11, wish on a
Star, I learned long ago
Hope does not get
You far.
...

I am going to disappear this year
And forget myself in Fall
I’ll climb into folds of winter
Where I will never hear your call
...

Butterfly Wishes

Butterfly, flutterby
Come to me
Take me to Mexico
On your delicate wing.

Butterfly, flutterby
It is early fall
I want to escape from here
To you I call.

Butterfly, flutterby
Be with me tonight
I’ll be ready in a minute
Ready for take-off; ready for flight.

Butterfly, flutterby
How gorgeous your face
Yellow, black, stained-glass wings
I see your mysterious smile and dainty grace.

Butterfly, flutterby
I’m waiting; I’ll stay
Please don’t forget me
But look! Now you’re going, going, gone, away.

Butterfly, flutterby
How can this be?
You said good bye
Now what about me?

Butterfly, flutterby
You could have come to me
Could have taken me to Mexico
On your delicate wing.

Butterfly, flutterby
This is not the end
Return for me next year
I will be waiting and watching, again and again.
