Janine Ecks Poems

Your ghost on the horizon calls my name.
My arms reach out, yanking against the chains.
I cannot reach; again my will is drained...
I fall, I crush your memory to my core.
...

See this shore, this tree, born of this sea?
So, my lover, so are we.
Now all the pieces fit,
Completing the circle in a world of entropy...
...

Legions of lies, and my logic
In the face of illusion flies!
Was anything true that was uttered by you
Who triggered the heart's demise?
...

The fire is creeping closer.
The nova has arrived.
The sun has blinked some time now;
Too long the world's survived.
...

How many wads of crumpled paper
Have gone into that trash can in the corner of your kitchen
Twenty million words of pain
Delicately crafted verse of desire
...

Twenty-two droplets of blood from my vein
Swallowed up by this pitch-black abyss
Vanish forever, a stream of me drained,
An unfair exchange for death's intimate kiss.
...

Forbidden fruit
Passion in the eye, but ever mute
Sudden as a sweet caress is had and lost
Intrigue flickered on
...

Autumn leaves rain down
Painting blood across the sky
My heart bleeds for you
...

As one day I mourned my faraway love
And questioned the powers that be,
I looked off and saw a jagged cliff;
Beyond it, the deep blue sea.
...

Divine grace,
I cannot remember your face.
Good to heal,
I'd hate to feel.
...

Saw a picture of you in full color.
Pastels lit your face -
Shifting, contorting, life of a thousand demons
Swirling beneath your countenance.
...

Dead man dreaming in the dust,
You must recognize my lust.
Where you've gone has no return,
But I go too, because I yearn.
...

Such waterfalls adorn those crags
Where mountains reach into the clouds.
The wanton shepherd never lags
In luring one to dropp her shrouds,
...

In this pirouette twisting will we flip and turn?
Expeditious retreat I will cast 'fore I play,
Unabashedly romping while all the signs say,
'Tread so lightly, my lady, or bound to get burned! '
...

One more reservation is floating away...
So many I've shed now that what can I weigh?
Cleansed by the lapping of white-lidded waves,
Unfettered, I'm fearless and free.

Janine Ecks Biography

I've walked through the Inferno and lived to tell the tale. I'm a creature of the sensuous, and emotion is my muse. I am for you. Do what you will with me.)

Embers

Your ghost on the horizon calls my name.
My arms reach out, yanking against the chains.
I cannot reach; again my will is drained...
I fall, I crush your memory to my core.

This carnal rage ignites a fire within.
The smoking embers sizzle through my skin
And fly off, ashes scattered on the wind,
Fly home to you, to be dust on your floor.
