Jane Quijano

Jane Quijano Poems

I will be
gone someday.

But let it
not be now.
...

I am like a captive bird
Inside my cage;
I can get out
But I am back inside again!
...

My spirit soars up in heaven
To touch the spirit of God;
But touching reveals to me
The impurities of my soul!
...

I was a child born and lived to be an old woman...
Youth has left me long before it came
And I cannot remember
Most of my dreams and wishes of my childhood;
...

A lost poem I made years ago. I tried to do it again with the same title. Youth has its flavor but aged is golden. - Jane

Sing to me your love songs again, dear
...

He sat alone in his old rocking chair
Looking out the window
Slowly rocking and faintly hearing
The creaking of the floor.
...

It was not of the soul...
But of the body...
That was beating me.
...

Inside my room in Kalasungay-
That is always dark and dim,
I hear cicadas and toads
Of different pitch at night,
...

In Lumayagan, a place embraced by creeks
And the unknown, I have tales untold...
Before the moon rises, clouds are forming
And on the ground, soft mist slowly crawling.
...

Always in my solitude, I see
Beyond the mountains!
Beyond the seas!
You and Me...
...

I remember the day I carried you
So tiny, so fragile and new!
I walked with knees trembling
But I tarried and carried you!
...

I could feel the softness,
The touch of your skin in your embrace...
How I miss the sweetness of your breath
Touching my neck...
...

The stars glittered in the night
And the moon was hanging low;
But our feet had wings for curtain call
Of the last symphony...
...

14.

Curiosity
Touches you endlessly...
Since the first glimpse
Of Phoebus!
...

Every person...
...has his own version,
...his own outlook,
...his own interpretation
...

Sing me a song
That could lull me to sleep
And make me dream
Of my dream before I weep...
...

The living breathes
The pungent odor of death.
He walks along the trail
Of the dead...
...

Tumatakbo ang panahon
At umiikot ang mundo
Bawat saglit ng buhay
Ay naglalaho...
...

I cannot sleep, cannot sleep!
My heart does not ache
But like a funeral drum
It is beating slowly to my grave...

The Best Poem Of Jane Quijano

I Will Be Gone Someday

I will be
gone someday.

But let it
not be now.

For I have
a task

That I
cannot do

Today...

I should
be there

And see
to things.

But I
just cannot

Leave...
