Jamie Alexander Poems

For a moment, Dear Lord, I'd like to refrain
From the tears I've shed at your knee
And send up a heartfelt 'Thank You'
For the angel you sent down to me
...

As I reflect with pen in hand
Begging words to spread their wings
Cadence inspires verses to dance
Daring each syllable to sing
...

It surpasses all logic and reason
And defies any shadow of doubt
It comforts regardless the season
And brings abundance to those without
...

Forever we will celebrate, with grateful heart we say
Old Glory, we salute you on this patriotic day
United we stand beside you, our faithful loyal friend
Refusing to accept defeat, devoted till the end

Jamie Alexander Biography

I started writing little one stanza poems when I was ten to read in church. I just wish I could draw or play a musical instrument so I could design my own greeting cards or write songs. Anyway, I'm grateful to be able to express myself this way and I truly appreciate the opportunity to share them with all of you. My poems are pretty simple, but they come from my heart.)

Down Here I Called Her Mama

For a moment, Dear Lord, I'd like to refrain
From the tears I've shed at your knee
And send up a heartfelt 'Thank You'
For the angel you sent down to me

Angelic she was, in every way
This treasure you sent from above
Down here I called her Mama
And she answered me with love

From my earliest memory of my smallest deed
I looked up into a face filled with pride
If I didn't win the race, or didn't even place
All that mattered to her was that I tried

She was my pat on the back when I did a good job
When I failed, she was always my shoulder
Now that I'm here and she's there with you
I'm so thankful, Dear Lord, that I told her

She was my light when surrounded by darkness
For in her wisdom she taught me to see
There was nothing to fear, for you're always near
And it was that lesson that set me free

For I'm sure deep down she always knew
Someday you'd be calling her home
And I'd have to retrieve what she taught me to believe
Or I'd never make it on my own

So I thank you, once again, for my heavenly friend
Even though it broke my heart to say goodbye
Till I join her up above, please give her all my love
And a hug for every star in your sky
