James Trotter Poems

I see your silky skin
Draped about your face
As a toga around the finest of Greek noble women
Draped in beauty
...

An eye with no pupil has no need to blink
'Instill in me light', one eye might scream
And the other sits in anguish
Anguish of no birds to compose a morning musical
...

Trapped in the infinite sorrow
Of a life distraught with peril
I surround myself with drugs and alcohol
Many cocktails before extravagant joyrides
...

A cloud looms overhead
Lightning strikes and all is lost
Sparks and embers flying
And one crashes into my eye
...

The streets of Venice are engulfed in it
Girls are attracted by it
It stretches like a mile on the sea
But will it be the defining factor
...

A fallen tree
And a broken mind
Have seen the heartache
In the world's weathering
...

I can hear your whistling in the next room
It has a beautiful echo that persists in my ears
I don't want it to go
But soon you'll run out of breath
...

Staring at the dawn sky
I see hope
Not to overcome disaster
Or to come out of a slump
...

I'm trying to inhale the world
Understand it, know it, and live in it
so, with constant struggles, I wonder the streets
In search of the crazed, the demented
...

My stomach lurches
I vomit my last meal
I fall to the ground
Relinquish My hold on life
...

Alone in a damp alleyway
A young blonde woman sobs
Her warm tears smearing her makeup
Bare feet and crouched against a sweating concrete wall
...

The Wind sweeps around the world in one gust
Two spirits are joined
They feel one another as they move
Smoothly gliding past each other
...

I remember the burn of a warm liquid
Descending my throat
And there, endless, heat in my chest
And another shot, followed by yet another ten
...

On the couch
Wafting in the fumes of 190 proofs
The tooter was in hand
We all did a line
...

I spend my days staring out the window
And my nights staring in
It's cold and damp outside
I'm sinking into the mud and can't get out
...

The Best Poem Of James Trotter

Your Embodiment

I see your silky skin
Draped about your face
As a toga around the finest of Greek noble women
Draped in beauty
Draped in spirit
You have me caged in love
I cannot resist
I must have you
For I cannot escape you
Nor do I wish it
You cloud my thoughts
The most relaxing of rains it brings
The kind you would sit on the porch to enjoy
And feel the gentle mist
So come closer
So that I may bathe in you
I wish to stare into your eyes
And stare into your soul
I want to understand you
And, you, me
So come closer...
Closer until we touch
