Jackie R. Kays Poems

From across the crowed room, and as
chance would have it be, Our eyes met
in perfect harmony.
...

Lay your head on my shoulder,
and let me hold you and tell
you of your many charms.
...

In a wind swept cornfield he stands,
a vigilant sentinel always on guard
for that pesky thief…the crow.
...

Out of large, expressionless brown
eyes peering from her small, gaunt
black face, shinning in the broiling
African sun…in her little faded,
...

The Royal Princess lies quietly now
robed in a flowing white gown as the
world mourns her passing from Old
London Town.

From Across The Crowed Room

From across the crowed room, and as
chance would have it be, Our eyes met
in perfect harmony.

Was it love at first sight?
Or just a fleeting moment of flirtation
in the excitement of that special night.

Pleasantries, niceties, laughter so bright.
Champagne, the sound of music and
merriment was enjoyed by all through
out that special night.

Then poetry she did recite, to everyone's delight.
Wanda… so beautiful in the evening's candle light.
And across the crowed room sat the Poet from,
Whom she did recite, and stole his poetic heart
on that special reunion night.
