Atop the red earth with bare feet,
Practicing culture associated with the black skin.
Underneath the blue sky, with eyes brown,
Like a leaf withered, fallen off it's niche.

This would be my heritage, unmistaken like the red oil...
I pride myself in thoughts that left me blue.
For it'd be gold to know my roots,
I'm like a chameleon turned grey for adaptation, but green is forever my color.

It started way back in Africa, beauty enslaved by the whites.
Thrown upon a yellow vessel, shipped across the blue sea.
